Pastor of Worship

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Pastor of Worship is a full-time support position with emphasis on building and supporting ministry groups. The worship pastor will work closely with our lead pastor in cultivating worship services and worship teams that help lead our congregation to see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit. A Worship Pastor is a shepherd who leads the church to exalt Christ, values strong relationships and pursues excellence. Fostering dynamic congregational worship, singing the best of the old and the best of the new, is a key priority for our church and we are seeking an individual who’s called and gifted by God in the following areas:

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WORSHIP

  • Develop worship services that connect people to God
  • Lead the congregation and the members of the music ministry to grow in their hunger and relationship with God through worship
  • Lead with passion in worship that is both contagious and leads others closer to Christ
  • Modeling and leading heartfelt worship in an invitational style that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus
  • Create and teach a worship culture
  • Effectively communicate vision for worship
  • Capable of selecting songs prayerfully that will resonate with the congregation and align with the overall worship vision
  • Leading and shepherding on a weekly basis the current and expanding worship services
  • Mentor volunteer worship leaders and giving leadership opportunities as needed
  • Serve as the music director – giving leadership to all musical opportunities
  • Utilize a mix of new, current, and traditional songs and genres
  • Give leadership and oversight to our technical ministries – sound, video, lighting, Pro Presenter, Planning Center, etc.
  • Partner with Children and Student Ministries to enhance their ministry and develop future worship volunteers/leaders
  • Have strong communication skills – able to teach scripture, pray, and incorporate other elements into creative worship elements
  • Willingness to be trained in preaching and teaching by Lead Pastor
  • Opportunities to preach, teach, and/or lead small groups
  • Utilize other giftings to bless the church and further the Gospel

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a fully functioning member of the ministry staff, attend all staff meetings
  • Manage various day-to-day responsibilities associated with ministry
  • Counseling as needed
  • Occasional visitations – hospital, funerals, families, etc
  • Other areas as directed by the Lead Pastor and shared staff
  • Staff Meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Lead Pastor
  • Board of Ministries and Elders meetings as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, a vital and growing relationship with Him, and a solid commitment to the Lordship of Christ
  • Bachelors (or Masters) degree from an accredited college/university with a concentration in a field of Pastoral, Worship, or Music preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of proven ministry experience is preferred
  • Experience in leading a band and worship teams
  • Strong vocal skills
  • Proficient in playing guitar and/or piano preferred
  • Ability to exemplify the church’s values and uphold staff policies
  • Licensed or willing to be licensed by the Western PA District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance
  • Ordained or working towards ordination (if already licensed)
  • A sincere desire to be actively involved in ministering to people
  • Must be personable and work well with people
  • Good rapport with congregation and healthy relationships with people
  • Capable of “reading the room” to see what songs and styles are resonating with the congregation
  • Must have a teachable spirit
  • Committed to developing leaders
  • A willingness to learn and grow in their craft
  • Must have a heart for lost people and a vision for reaching them

AMENABILITY

All staff members are amenable to the Lead Pastor and Board of Elders

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is set by the Board of Ministries and Finance Committee
